A 35-second lesson-preview ad, built for educators who sell on Teachers Pay Teachers

This recipe comes straight from the briefs teachers write for ngram. Drop in your topic, your objective, and the vocabulary students need to know, and get a fast-paced teaser that hooks the class and sells the product — without revealing a single answer.

The short version

What this template is

An education ad video for educators is a short, hook-only teaser — usually about 35 seconds — that previews a single lesson to sell a Teachers-Pay-Teachers product or launch it with your class. You give ngram the grade and topic, the one objective the lesson teaches, the key vocabulary, and the look you want, and it writes a fast-paced script, animates a math-whiteboard style scene with bold kinetic typography, and lands on a grabber question — all without revealing the answers. You fill in the blanks; ngram builds the teaser.

The template prompt

Copy it, swap the five brackets for your lesson, and paste it into ngram — or hit "Use this template" to open the editor with it prefilled. The slots mirror the brief teachers already write: topic, objective, visual moment, vocabulary, and style.

What the template builds

Five beats, about 35 seconds — the shape almost every lesson-preview brief converges on.

  1. 1

    The grabber

    5s

Open on a giant, colorful number or a single provocative image bouncing on screen — no title, no logo yet. This is the scroll-stopper that makes a student look up and a scrolling buyer pause.

  2. 2

    Name the topic

    6s

State what the lesson is about in one line of kinetic typography. The grade and topic land as bold text over the whiteboard so buyers instantly know it matches their standards.

  3. 3

    Tease the concept

    15s

Animate the one visual moment that makes the concept intriguing — a grid filling in, an area model slicing, place-value disks unbundling — but stop right before the answer. Curiosity, not instruction.

  4. 4

    Flash the vocabulary

    6s

Punch the key terms on screen in quick succession so students preview the language they'll use and buyers see the lesson's rigor. Fast cuts, bold type, on-beat with the music.

  5. 5

    Cliffhanger and title card

    3s

Close on a grabber question that kickstarts the lesson ("Can you find the pattern?") and a clean title card with your product name — the cue to open the resource in class or buy it on TpT.

Variations

Common variations

Story-format grabber (45s)

A high-energy, story-style open with a longer cliffhanger — great for kickstarting a lesson live in class rather than a quick feed ad.

tweak

Extend to 45 seconds and open on a short story or scenario before the grabber question lands. Add vibrant colors and fast-moving animated graphics, and end on a cliffhanger the lesson will answer.

Silent captioned cut for the TpT thumbnail

For the product preview that autoplays muted in the TpT feed — large high-contrast captions carry the whole message.

tweak

Remove voiceover. Use large, high-contrast on-screen captions synced to each beat, and set the aspect ratio to 1:1 for the product thumbnail.

Bundle teaser

Preview a whole unit or bundle instead of one lesson — flash three topic cards fast before the closing title card.

tweak

Preview a bundle: after the grabber, flash three lesson-topic cards in quick succession (one per resource in the bundle), then close on the bundle name and a single grabber question.

Back-to-school launch cut

Add seasonal urgency for a store sale or a new-unit drop at the start of a term.

tweak

Add a bold on-screen banner ("New this week" or "Back-to-school sale") and close on an urgency line plus the product name instead of only a grabber question.
