I like structure. Not rigid structure, but the kind that quietly holds everything together.

Choose Clipchamp when browser or Windows recording and editing fit your Microsoft account and the required export. Choose Filmora when its desktop editing and AI story workflow fit the project. Both offer ways to create with AI, but Clipchamp’s personal features and commercial Copilot creation have different account requirements.

Clipchamp: check the account as well as the editor

Clipchamp homepage presenting its video editor

Clipchamp combines recording, timeline editing, titles, overlays, stock media and audio. Its personal Free path supports watermark-free exports up to 1080p with eligible assets. Microsoft 365 Personal or Family adds personal premium features such as 4K export and Brand Kit.

The Copilot creation flow generates narration and a stock-based video from a prompt or PowerPoint for eligible commercial accounts. It requires the appropriate Microsoft 365 account, Copilot Chat access and Clipchamp enabled by the organization. Personal premium access is a different entitlement.

Use supported desktop browsers or the Windows app. Microsoft ended support for Clipchamp’s iOS app on June 9, 2026. For a mobile workflow, evaluate a currently supported app instead of relying on an old platform list.

Filmora: direct editing and AI story creation

Filmora 16 homepage presenting its current editing and AI workflow

Filmora combines screen recording, imported footage, multitrack editing, keyframes, tracking, color and audio tools. It also offers generated media and AI-assisted revisions. Choose it when those controls fit the actual video you need to finish.

Its Idea to Video workflow creates a storyboard from an idea or script. You can revise scenes and characters before generation, then continue editing the result. Planning is part of Filmora’s current product, not a capability unique to ngram.

AI Mate supports conversational actions, guidance and an Inspiration to Video path. Evaluate the exact edit, source and app you will use; desktop and mobile capabilities differ. A generated clip and an entire narrated project should be compared as separate jobs.

Compare one realistic revision

For a screen explanation, compare recording, trimming and caption corrections in the account you already use. For a slide-led video, test the work-account Copilot path if it is enabled. Filmora offers a different story-generation flow with storyboard review and direct editing.

Before rolling out either tool, confirm who can create, review and export, and where the source project will live. A household software bundle, a work entitlement and a company editing license should not be treated as interchangeable purchases.

Pricing: separate the license and usage

Clipchamp pricing points personal premium users to Microsoft 365. The checked US Microsoft page listed Personal at $9.99/month or $99.99/year, and Family at $12.99/month or $129.99/year. Those are broader software bundles. Commercial Copilot and organization access follow separate licensing.

The Filmora USD Windows individual offer lists Basic at $9.99/month, Advanced at $29.99/year with 1,000 AI credits/month, and Perpetual at $49.99 once with 1,000 one-time credits. Perpetual covers Filmora 16, not future major versions. A separate Creative Assets trial was selected, renewing at $9.99/month after seven days. Check the current offer, renewal and selected extras.

Wondershare directs company work to its Team & Business plans, which include central license management. Price the relevant business license and permitted assets for your use. An individual offer is not the total price of a company rollout.

Turn a release page into a product announcement

The ngram example below uses the public Linear Diffs release page and a filled brief. Inspect the source, style, transcript and actual output, then adapt the brief for your own update. This is URL-based creation, not an imported Clipchamp or Filmora project.

From this input to this video

An announcement using Linear’s October 8 release and actual product imagery to show the workflow.

Prompt

Create a 30-second feature announcement video for Linear, a product development platform for engineering teams reviewing stacked code changes. Use this release source: https://linear.app/changelog/2026-10-08-stacked-pull-requests. The new feature is stacked pull requests in Linear Diffs: the October 8, 2026 release shows every pull request in a stack with its review, CI and merge status. Open on the problem users had before: following the status of related pull requests across a stack. Show how stacked pull requests in Linear Diffs solves it — use motion graphics over the real product UI or a provided URL screenshot; do not invent fake screens. Tone: clear and practical. End on the product logo with the line Explore stacked pull requests in Linear Diffs. Channel: LinkedIn in landscape 16:9. Voiceover language: English; if no voiceover, use on-screen captions and light background music.

Read the video transcript

Stacked pull requests keep big changes small. But following a stack meant jumping between pull requests, checking each review, each CI run and each merge on its own. Now Linear Diffs shows the whole stack in one place. See where you are, move through every pull request, and read review, CI and merge status at a glance. Related PRs are grouped into a single row in Reviews, with their issue and project context. Explore stacked pull requests in Linear Diffs.

  1. Bring the release

Paste the public release page or bring approved notes. Upload an exported Adobe Express video when source footage helps explain the change.

  2. Adapt the brief

Fill in the product, audience, change and next step. Choose a style and aspect ratio; attach your files and select your Brand Kit in ngram.

  3. Approve and refine

Review the plan containing the script and approve generation. Ask for changes or another version after inspecting the result.

Video generation uses credits. Review your estimate in ngram. MP4 downloads require Basic or higher.

How credits work

For existing footage, export the relevant video from Clipchamp or Filmora and upload the file to ngram. Add the audience, key points and next step. Keep the editable original in its source app; the exported file supplies footage for the new video.

Choose a style, aspect ratio and duration. In the composer, select your configured Brand Kit and enable captions when wanted, then approve the plan containing the script. Ask for revisions after reviewing the result. When the source changes, tell ngram what changed and ask it to update the video.

Use the feature-announcement template for your next release, or explore release notes to video and product demos.

ngram pricing includes 1,000 credits/month on Free. Basic costs $29/month with monthly billing and includes 3,000 credits per cycle; annual billing is $23.20/month equivalent with 36,000 credits supplied upfront. The base rate for premium AI video generation is 10 credits per second, with a cheaper model at 3. Share publicly or embed on Free; use a paid plan for MP4 downloads and Basic or above for unlisted links.

Choose the workflow for your next video

Try Clipchamp for recording and editing within your Microsoft setup, including the eligible Copilot workflow when useful. Try Filmora for its desktop project and AI story controls. Try ngram when an approved page or other business source should become a new explanation with a reusable brief.

Frequently asked questions

Does Microsoft 365 Personal include the commercial Copilot video flow?

Do not assume that it does. Personal premium Clipchamp features and commercial Copilot creation have different eligibility. Check the work account, Copilot Chat access and the organization’s Clipchamp settings.

Does Filmora review a storyboard before generating?

Its Idea to Video workflow lets you review and customize the storyboard before creating the video. AI Mate also documents script and storyboard review in its story workflow.

Does a Filmora Perpetual purchase include unlimited AI generation?

No. The checked Filmora 16 offer includes 1,000 one-time AI credits. Version updates, future major upgrades and recurring asset subscriptions are separate terms to consider.

Can I bring an exported video into ngram?

Yes. Export the relevant file, check playback and upload it with the new audience, key points and next action. Keep the editable original in its source app; the export supplies footage for the new video.

Can I try ngram without changing my editing workflow?

Yes. Free includes 1,000 credits/month, public sharing and embeds. Create a relevant video from your source material, then use a paid plan for MP4 downloads if you want to publish through another tool.
