Data to video: turn raw numbers into a video story people watch

Bring the figures from a dataset, a dashboard, or an analytics export and ngram plans a short data video: animated charts, a script that reads the trend out loud, brand kit, and captions. The data ingestion pipeline is in build, so this converter is on the way, not live yet.

How it works

How data to video will work once it ships.

No chart-builder, no slide formatting, no screen recording of a dashboard. Bring the data, review the story, render a branded recap. Here is the flow the converter is being built to follow.

01

Bring the data in

Upload a CSV or analytics export, or paste the figures that matter. ngram will read the fields, detect which are dates, segments, and measures, and work out which numbers carry the story.

02

Numbers become a narrative

ngram will rank the data by what moved most, pick a chart that fits each comparison, and write a narration that explains the why behind the metric instead of reading every value aloud.

03

Review the data story

Reorder the chart scenes, swap a bar for a line, change which metric leads, or rewrite the takeaway in chat. Every change is one turn, no formula or dashboard config required.

04

Ship the recap

Export MP4 in 16:9, 1:1, or 9:16. Publish to a hosted watch page, push to LinkedIn, or drop it into the board deck. Re-render the moment the next data refresh lands.

Output controls

Sensible defaults for data. Real controls when the numbers deserve them.

Chart picked from the data shape

A time series gets a line, a segment breakdown gets bars, a share-of-total gets a donut, a single result gets a big number card. ngram reads what the data is comparing and chooses the visual that makes the point.

Narration that explains the why

Instead of reciting every value, the script names the metric that moved, the segment driving it, and the number to watch next. The voiceover sounds like an analyst walking through the data, not a dashboard read out loud.

One scene per insight

Each metric or finding gets its own scene with the figure animated up to value. No 40-row export crammed onto one frame that nobody can parse on a phone screen.

Brand kit on every chart

Logo, palette, and font stack from the workspace brand kit color the axes, bars, and number cards. The growth recap and the retention recap look like the same company produced them.

Voiceover tuned to who is watching

Measured for an investor update, brisk for an internal metrics review, warmer for a customer usage recap. Pick a brand voice or use a cloned voice from voice settings.

Burned-in captions and figure labels

Auto-generated captions plus on-screen labels that hold the exact figure long enough to read. The headline number stays legible when the recap autoplays muted in a feed or a Slack channel.

Localized numbers and narration

Render the same dataset as an English growth recap, a German metrics update, and a Spanish usage report. Captions, on-screen labels, and voiceover switch together, decimal and thousands formatting included.

One dataset, three cuts

Export the same data recap as a 9:16 vertical for the all-hands, a 1:1 square for LinkedIn, and a 16:9 for the board deck. One source, three publish-ready ratios.

Use cases

Where a pile of data becomes a video people actually watch.

Founders

Investor updates straight from the metrics

The growth, revenue, and burn data a founder already tracks turns into a branded investor recap. The numbers read out loud over animated charts, no separate deck build before the send.

Product

Roadmap and metric updates that get watched

Product usage data and the quarter's KPIs become a short recap for the team and stakeholders. The PM narrates what moved instead of pasting a dashboard screenshot into the thread.

See use case
Product research

Survey and research findings as a recap

Raw survey results and user-research data turn into a findings video the whole team sits through. Each finding gets a clean animated scene instead of a stats table buried in a doc.

See use case
Customer success

QBR numbers customers sit through

The account-health data behind a quarterly business review becomes a recap the customer watches before the call. Usage, adoption, and outcomes read as a story, not a grid of cells.

See use case
Growth

Campaign performance recaps from the analytics

The marketing analytics behind a channel review turn into a results video. Spend, conversions, and CAC animate scene by scene so the wins are obvious in under a minute.

See use case
Internal comms

All-hands numbers nobody squints at

The company scorecard data becomes the metrics segment of the all-hands video. Each number gets its own animated scene instead of a tiny projected table only the front row can read.

See use case
Sales

ROI data that wins the review

The value-and-savings data behind a proposal becomes a short recap the buyer forwards to their committee. The payback math animates instead of hiding inside a formula column.

See use case
Changelog

Adoption data on the release card

Feature adoption and usage numbers become a quick data scene on the changelog video. The release note carries proof the feature is landing, not just a list of what shipped.

How it compares

If you turn data into video another way today.

BI tools draw the dashboard and stop there. Slide tools paste the chart into a deck a person then narrates and records. ngram is being built to read the data, plan the story, and render a branded recap with voiceover end to end.

FAQ

Common questions about data to video

Not yet. The pipeline that reads a raw dataset end to end is still in build at ngram, so there is no live data to video conversion today. While we wire it up, the closest live routes are report to video for a finished PDF, docs to video for a written doc with tables, or text to video if you paste the few figures that matter.

Still curious?
