Choose Adobe Express when video is part of a broader campaign-design workflow. Choose Descript when transcript-linked editing is a useful way to shape spoken recordings. Both have AI creation tools, and Descript can generate a video without an existing recording. Compare the full source, revision and delivery process.

Design assets or transcript-led revision

Adobe Express lets you create a video beside the graphics, presentations and other assets for the same campaign. Its templates, stock assets, fonts and branding tools support that broader workspace. The video editor combines uploaded and generated media with text, audio, animation and layer timing.

Descript links recorded speech to a transcript. Removing or moving words changes the corresponding media, which can be useful for interviews, webinars and narrated lessons. Scene and timeline controls provide another way to refine the presentation.

Use a realistic revision to compare the two. Shorten an explanation, remove a detour or replace an outdated screen. Inspect timing and meaning after the edit, as well as the controls available to the person who will maintain the video.

AI tools go beyond cleanup

Adobe Express video generation accepts a text prompt and optional starting image, with generated footage used in the design editor. Other tools include audio-driven character animation and creative asset generation. Choose the plan and credits for the specific features you need.

Descript’s AI Video Maker creates an editable video from a prompt, script or footage. Underlord also works with supported documents and slides and can revise projects through chat. It should not be described as an editor that always requires a recording or a finished script first.

ngram offers a source-based workflow with a plan containing the script for approval. The example below shows a real public release page becoming a product announcement. It demonstrates that workflow; it does not establish that either competitor cannot create a similar result.

Audio, captions and brand choices

Descript combines its transcript workflow with Studio Sound, filler-word removal, AI speech and captions. Adobe Express provides caption, recorded/imported audio and creative editing tools. For speech-heavy material, evaluate technical terms, cut boundaries and the sound of the output using your actual recording.

Adobe Express Premium includes Brand Kits, while Descript Business includes Brand Studio. Team, review and sharing requirements also affect the plan. Compare the controls you need instead of equating every brand feature across products.

In ngram, create your Brand Kit and select it in the composer for the video. Enable captions when wanted, approve the plan containing the script, then request revisions or use the full timeline. Ask for another version after choosing its aspect ratio and duration.

Current pricing and usage

The US individual Adobe Express pricing page showed Premium at $9.99/month with no annual commitment and 250 monthly generative credits on October 17, 2026. Firefly Pro was $19.99/month, including Express Premium and a larger 4,000-credit allowance for its broader AI tools. These are different bundles; do not treat either balance as an interchangeable number of finished videos.

Descript pricing showed Hobbyist at $24/user monthly or $16/user/month equivalent annually, Creator at $35 or $24, and Business at $65 or $50. The respective monthly media allowances are 10, 30 and 40 hours, with 400, 800 and 1,500 AI credits. Match the plan to the tools and volume you expect to use.

Bar chart comparing entry paid plan prices for Adobe Express Premium, Descript Hobbyist, and ngram Basic in 2026

The chart retains its original June 19 date. Its $9.99 Express Premium, $24 Descript Hobbyist and $29 ngram Basic monthly prices remain consistent with the current check. These entry prices cover different features and usage allowances.

ngram pricing includes 1,000 credits/month on Free. Basic costs $29/month with monthly billing and includes 3,000 credits per cycle; annual billing is $23.20/month equivalent with 36,000 credits supplied upfront. The base rate for premium AI video generation is 10 credits per second, with a cheaper model at 3. Share publicly or embed on Free; use a paid plan for MP4 downloads and Basic or above for unlisted links.

Annual equivalents require an annual commitment. A generative credit, an imported media hour and an exported video are different measures; estimate your recurring work and revisions rather than comparing credit balances as if they were the same unit.

Developer and assistant workflows

Adobe Express Embed SDK embeds editing and creation in another product, with business approval and entitlement requirements. Adobe also describes content automation through Express APIs. Evaluate the specific operation and access model you need.

Descript’s API supports import and editing through HTTP, MCP, CLI and Zapier. Access is for paying users and draws on their plan allowances. Check the endpoint documentation for your exact publishing task. ngram also provides MCP and automation workflows.

Turn a release page into a product announcement

The ngram example below uses the public Linear Diffs release page and a filled brief. Inspect the source, style, transcript and actual output, then adapt the brief for your own update. This is URL-based creation, not an imported Adobe Express or Descript project.

From this input to this video

An announcement using Linear’s October 8 release and actual product imagery to show the workflow.

Prompt

Create a 30-second feature announcement video for Linear, a product development platform for engineering teams reviewing stacked code changes. Use this release source: https://linear.app/changelog/2026-10-08-stacked-pull-requests. The new feature is stacked pull requests in Linear Diffs: the October 8, 2026 release shows every pull request in a stack with its review, CI and merge status. Open on the problem users had before: following the status of related pull requests across a stack. Show how stacked pull requests in Linear Diffs solves it — use motion graphics over the real product UI or a provided URL screenshot; do not invent fake screens. Tone: clear and practical. End on the product logo with the line Explore stacked pull requests in Linear Diffs. Channel: LinkedIn in landscape 16:9. Voiceover language: English; if no voiceover, use on-screen captions and light background music.

Read the video transcript

Stacked pull requests keep big changes small. But following a stack meant jumping between pull requests, checking each review, each CI run and each merge on its own. Now Linear Diffs shows the whole stack in one place. See where you are, move through every pull request, and read review, CI and merge status at a glance. Related PRs are grouped into a single row in Reviews, with their issue and project context. Explore stacked pull requests in Linear Diffs.

Video generation uses credits. Review your estimate in ngram. MP4 downloads require Basic or higher.

How credits work

For existing footage, export the relevant video from Adobe Express or Descript and upload the file to ngram. Add the audience, key points and next step. Keep the editable original in its source app; the exported file supplies footage for the new video.

Choose a style, aspect ratio and duration. In the composer, select your configured Brand Kit and enable captions when wanted, then approve the plan containing the script. Ask for revisions after reviewing the result. When the source changes, tell ngram what changed and ask it to update the video.

How this comparison was reviewed

This update compares current official product, support, pricing and developer sources. Recommendations concern the job, source material and revision workflow. We have not run a timed or scored competitor-output test. The ngram example shows an actual generated result with the exact input; it is not a comparative quality benchmark.

Frequently asked questions
