The Emu War: How Australia Lost a War Against Birds | made with ngram

About the video

This video was created by ngram to tell the story of the Emu War in Western Australia in 1932. The sequence depicts emus moving through wheat-growing country, a map of the affected region, military preparations and soldiers attempting to control the birds. Newspaper and field-report scenes frame the outcome of the campaign, leading to a closing image of emus on the horizon. ngram uses cinematic rural imagery, period-style documents, a map and prominent date labels to present the historical subject as a visual story. The warm earth tones and recurring farmland scenes keep the focus on the unusual encounter between agriculture, wildlife and military action.
