I'm a Star — SMT IV edition | made with ngram

About the video

This video was created by ngram to reimagine the popular 'I'm a Star' meme format using characters from Shin Megami Tensei IV. Built with HTML/CSS motion graphics in a 16:9 frame, the video unfolds in two mirrored halves centered on the game's protagonists, Jonathan and Walter. Each half opens on a baby-faced version of the character, moves into a boastful 'bragging' moment, and closes with the character's patron entity physically dominating a chibi version of them — Merkabah leaning on and dangling chibi Jonathan, and Lucifer doing the same with chibi Walter. The structure plays on the contrast between the characters' confident self-image and the overwhelming power of the celestial and infernal forces they serve, echoing the light-versus-dark, law-versus-chaos themes central to the SMT IV story. ngram assembled the piece as a sequence of eight short scenes, using stylized motion graphics rather than filmed footage to render the baby, bragging, leaning, and dangling beats for each character pair. The result is a compact, meme-style animated short aimed at fans of the game who recognize the format and the characters, delivering a quick visual joke about hierarchy and power within the SMT IV universe.
